There is no cost to the user.
Usage Guide
The Office365 account is automatically granted upon admission.
The format of the account is "@ms.saitama-u.ac.jp".
You cannot omit the part after @.
About Account Settings
In addition to the [Last Name].[First Name's initial].[random 3-digit number] format, you can choose from several other patterns.
To apply for changes, you need to follow these rules.
Cases Where Email Address (Office365 Account) Changes Are Allowed
The following are the principal examples.
Please contact us if you find it difficult to judge.
※It is not possible to make everything into initials.
※If possible, please make at least one part into initials.
※You cannot change to an account name that deviates from the name spelling.
(Example that cannot be changed) t.saitama → merin.chan
※ The final three digits may change during account name change and cannot be specified.
When applying for a change, please clearly state your name (alphabet) and unified authentication account user ID in the email and send it to MS-support [at] ml.saitama-u.ac.jp (please change [at] to @ mark).
Please note that applications from outside the university may not be accepted.

Is an Office365 account different from the unified authentication account?
Yes, they are different.
The unified authentication account is for using various information systems provided by Saitama University, and the Office365 account is for using the cloud service Office 365 Education provided by Microsoft.
For more details on the differences between the two, please check out "Important Notice to Students".
I forgot my Office365 account name (email address)
If you have a unified authentication account, you can check it.
Go to the password change page and log in with your unified authentication account ID and password.
On the screen after logging in, please check your "Office365 account name".
Once checked, please log out without changing your password.
I forgot my Office365 account password
The password for Office365 is the same as the password for your university-wide unified authentication account.

What's the difference between the Office365 account and the university-wide unified authentication account?
Is an Office365 account different from a Microsoft account?"
The Office365 account" is an account issued by Saitama University to its members.
The "Microsoft account" is an account directly issued by Microsoft under a contract with an individual (which could be either paid or free!).
Therefore, the university does not provide any support or follow-up regarding the use of "Microsoft Account".
Please be careful not to confuse the two.
I got a blue screen when I started Windows and it is asking for the BitLocker recovery key
PC terminals that have used the Office365 account provided by the university may be registered with the Microsoft 365 system.
When setting up BitLocker on such a device, your recovery key may be stored in the Microsoft 365 system,
so please try to find the recovery key by the following steps.
Use another available PC or mobile device, etc., and
log in to
Microsoft 365 in your web browser
【Note: Use your university Office365 account!】
> Click on "View Account" in the upper-right icon
> "Devices"
> Select the relevant PC
> "Display BitLocker Key"
> "Show recovery key"
If you cannot find it with the above, the university cannot find the recovery key.
